The copper barometer

We have been long copper this year, as the quick economic recovery in China boosted global demand, while the Covid pandemic severely restricted supply. Existing capacity will recover significantly this year, but demand will also continue to rise. Meanwhile, the structural copper supply deficit will remain; and the dollar will stay weak. We expect the copper price to head towards the highs of a decade ago.
