The first round of the French presidential elections takes place on Sunday. Incumbent Macron will be the leader, with Marine Le Pen the likely contender in the second-round run-off. Despite narrowing opinion polls, we expect Macron to obtain a second term as president. But his party may lose its majority in National Assembly elections in June. That election could be just as important as the presidential one.
